About us
Iboga Bwiti Providers
Experienced, highly trained and dedicated
We are Steven and Rupi, and both of us were initiated into the Bwiti tribe, studying under Moughenda Mikala, a 10th-generation Bwiti shaman.

After working with almost 2000 guests, we have refined our techniques and grown in our ability to support many different conditions.
Our work is deeply rooted in the Bwiti tradition and offered with heartfelt care.

“Iboga wove all of my experiences and teachings into one profound truth, and now, it is my honor to share Iboga and the Bwiti teachings with the world.”

Steven Moubengui
Lead Provider
Steven’s path to Iboga began as a young man searching for answers, driven by an unshakable feeling that there was more to life than what was being offered. Along the way, he was guided by great shamanic teachers from various traditions, including Native American and Guatemalan lineages, which deepened his connection to the earth and the ways of the ancestors, marking the beginning of his training as a healer.
A year after his first Iboga ceremony, Steven had the rare and profound opportunity to travel to Africa with a 10th-generation Bwiti shaman to undergo a full initiation into the Bwiti tradition. Being welcomed by this intact indigenous tribe was an incredible honor and a life-changing experience—one that would shape his path in the years to come.
Following his initiation, Steven apprenticed for nearly a year under Moughenda Mikala, a renowned 10th-generation Missoko Bwiti shaman, working alongside him at the Bwiti House in Costa Rica. He became one of the first Westerners to serve Iboga in the West, fully immersing himself in the Bwiti teachings and stepping into his role as an Iboga provider.
From there, Steven took on a leading role in bringing Iboga healing to the Western world. He became the main provider at Iboga Wellness, the oldest Iboga retreat center in the West, where he served for two years. In 2016, he founded Iboga Healing, his own Iboga center, and later helped establish several other Iboga centers worldwide.
In 2021, he moved to Portugal and co-founded Root Healing, serving as the lead provider. After years of refining the healing process, he founded Iboga Medicine, Portugal, where he continues his work as the lead provider—creating a space of integrity, transformation, and deep healing.
Steven is also the first person outside of Gabon to be granted the privilege of facilitating pre-initiation ceremonies for all genders—a traditional Bwiti Iboga ceremony that connects participants to the Bwiti tribe and to themselves on a deep spiritual level.
With over 13 years of experience, Steven is one of the most experienced Iboga providers outside of Africa. His mission is to guide people with care, integrity, and devotion, helping them heal, reconnect with their true self, and rediscover the truth within.

Rupi Moussanza Saran
Iboga Provider
Rupi’s journey to Iboga was born from a deep search for truth, healing, and self-liberation. Raised between conflicting cultures, she knows firsthand the weight of societal expectations—being told how her life should look, even to the point of facing an arranged marriage within her religion. For years, she lived within the framework of cultural conditioning, striving to meet external expectations rather than embracing her true self.
To heal, she immersed herself in yoga, Buddhism, astrology, Reiki, and New Age spirituality, searching for the peace and realness she longed for. Yet, despite her dedication, nothing provided the deep, lasting transformation she sought—until she found Iboga.
Iboga revealed the truth of how she had shaped her life to fit external ideals, and, more importantly, how to undo a lifetime of conditioning and pretending. It was a moment of raw self-honesty—one that led to clarity, empowerment, and a calling to help others break free from their own limitations.
Determined to share this powerful medicine with integrity, Rupi spent six months in Gabon, at Bwiti House in Moughenda’s Village, receiving her training as an Iboga provider under Moughenda Mikala himself. There, she fully immersed herself in the Bwiti tradition, learning to embody its teachings and wisdom. Her initiation into the tradition was a life-changing experience, deepening her understanding of healing, truth, and self-liberation.
Rupi is a rare provider who blends wisdom, warmth, and humor to help people navigate their healing. She creates a safe, compassionate space where individuals are encouraged to see themselves fully—perhaps for the first time—without fear. Her genuine, down-to-earth approach allows people to step into self-honesty with courage and joy.

Having worked with people from all over the world, Rupi has witnessed profound transformations through Iboga. She is a wise guide and generous host, dedicated to helping others return to their authentic selves and find deep, lasting healing.
