Nourishing the Journey: The Heart and Soul of Our Retreat Meals

An Iboga retreat is a profound journey inward - a process of deep healing, release, and rediscovery. While the spirit and mind are doing transformative work, the body requires gentle, loving support. This is where our approach to food becomes an essential part of your experience. We believe that nourishment is not just about what you eat, but about the intention, care, and love infused into every meal. It’s a philosophy embodied by our incredible retreat chef, Rogério Miranda.

A Chef’s Journey from Michelin Stars to Soulful Cooking

Meet Rogério, the heart of our kitchen. His story is one of passion, precision, and a deep return to simplicity. Trained in Cuisine, Pastry, and Hotel Management, Rogério honed his craft in some of Europe’s most celebrated Michelin-starred restaurants. In those high-pressure environments, he mastered the art of flavor and technique. Yet, his path eventually led him back to his roots in Portugal, where he founded his own private chef project, “Nameless Journey.”

This move was driven by a profound belief: that food is not just nourishment, but memory, emotion, and connection. For Rogério, a meal is a story. It’s a way to connect with ourselves, with each other, and with the earth that provides for us. He left the world of elaborate, fine dining to pursue a more authentic, soulful expression of cooking—one that aligns perfectly with the healing work we do here.

Food as Medicine: Grounding and Comfort on Your Plate

During an Iboga retreat, your body is undergoing a significant process of detoxification and recalibration. It becomes more sensitive and requires food that is clean, gentle, and easy to digest. Rogério understands this intimately. He prepares every meal with the clear intention of supporting your body respectfully and lovingly throughout your journey.

His cooking is grounding, comforting, and deeply aligned with the healing environment we cultivate. You won’t find heavy, processed, or overly complex dishes on our menu. Instead, you’ll discover the vibrant, life-affirming flavors of fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Rogério’s philosophy is that each dish should be an “invitation to travel through flavor while remaining safely at home within yourself.”

What to Expect During Your Retreat

The diet during the retreat is specifically designed to prepare your body for the medicine and to support its integration afterward. Our menu is intentionally simple, clean, and nourishing. We avoid fermented foods, aged cheeses, red meat, and anything overly spicy or stimulating. This isn’t about restriction; it’s about creating the optimal internal environment for the medicine to do its work.

Every meal served is a testament to Rogério’s care and dedication. It’s food made with love, designed to comfort your body, soothe your spirit, and be a gentle, delicious companion on your powerful journey of healing.

A Sacred Partnership: Body, Mind, and Plate

The Iboga journey is not one you take alone. Your body is your partner in this profound process of healing, and it deserves to be honored, nourished, and cared for with the same reverence we give to the medicine itself. Rogério's cooking is an extension of that care—a daily reminder that you are held, supported, and loved throughout every stage of your retreat.

As you move through your retreat, let the food be a gentle anchor. Let it remind you that healing is not just about releasing the old, but also about welcoming in the new, fresh energy, clean nourishment, and a renewed relationship with yourself. In Rogério's kitchen, every meal is prepared with this understanding, and every bite is an invitation to come home to your body. We look forward to nourishing you on your journey.
